It seems any old rubbish will do, when you are a 'good' person writing about 'bad' people.
My attention has just been drawn to the artist Attila the Stockbroker, and his end of year column in the Morning Star of 30-31 December 2023. Mr Baine reflects on the 40th anniversary of his anti-nuclear song 'Airstrip one', before stating "And even Reagan and Thatcher pale in the age of Trump and Braverman. It's been a horrible, horrible year."
Perhaps, but we are hardly in the age of Trump and Braverman. Donald Trump left office on 20 January 2021, having lost the Presidential election to Democrat Joe Biden. Suella Braverman was sacked as Home Secretary on 13 November 2023. In office Braverman in particular struggled to deliver on her mandate, and wrestled with officials who either could not, or perhaps would not, do what she wanted.
It's hardly their time, is it?
