Somewhat delayed, a correspondent reports that the eccentric Iranian Khalq group, known in English as the People's Mujahideen of Iran, was involved in serious armed clashes with Iraqi forces near Baghdad earlier this month. A death toll of 34 is reported.

The PMOI attracted a strange base of UK supporters, following its proscription in this country under the Terrorism Act 2000. Similar legislation was passed against them across the European Union.
