Ian Henshall Doth Protest Too Much

Flicking through the 12 December issue of Private Eye, and it was noticeable that the Tony Gosling scandal had stirred things up in the 9/11 'truth' movement. 

Ian Henshall does not like to dirty himself with too much activism, or indeed the hours on Internet forums which passes for activism in truth circles. That Henshall felt the need to ride in to battle to restore the truth movements good name is significant, although his letter to the Eye also manages to get in a mention of both his coffee business and his book!

Henshall finishes by stating:

"I am not a Nazi or a homophobe, just an old-fashioned left of centre guy who distrusts Washington and the CIA. So are most people in the 9/11 truth movement."

I'm sorry Ian, but no one could spend an hour on any of the 9/11 truth Internet forums in the UK and come away with that view. Nor would they conclude, from attending truth meetings, that this is a left of centre movement with merely a healthy distrust of the powers that be. 

Take the blinkers off Mr Henshall! 

 

From Fiction to Fact

"The irony of such conspiracy theories is that their deep distrust of the mass media is matched by an equally profound faith in the evidence it offers, so that supposedly factual news reports are rejected in favour of apparently fictional movies, both from the same source."

Acadmic Faisal Devji, in his book "Landscapes of the Jihad". Devji was discussing the belief in Saudi Arabia that 'proof' 9/11 was an inside job could be found in a piece of dialogue in the Hollywood film The Long Kiss Goodnight.

He could equally be discussing 9/11 'truth' staple Loose Change, which started out as a work of fiction then became 'fact'..............

Is This Blog Connected To Private Eye?

Well, you can always rely on Tony Gosling for a rib-tickler or two!

Over on the 9/11 forum that he is allowed to edit, Gosling is busy insisting that the recent Private Eye piece about  his homophobia must have been written by either Paul Stott, Larry O'Hara or Ian Bone!

It is perhaps indicative of Gosling's ego that he goes on to comment "First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win".

You can imagine a lot of things happening in 2009. Tony Gosling "winning" is not one of them.........

9/11 Truther Tony Gosling Suspended From Bristol Green Party

9/11 Truther Tony Gosling has been an accident waiting to happen for some time.

Moderator of the main 9/11 'Truth' forum in the UK, Gosling has long been a eccentric political figure in Bristol, where his curious approach to 'truth' in politics has isolated him from organisations as diverse as Bristol Indymedia though to Class War. His claims to be a former BBC journalist are met with considerabel derision by those who have encountered him in the flesh, whilst his habit of taking over moribund or near moribund organisations to gain himself credibility (Bristol NUJ) soon wears thin.

A glance at his Bilderberg website shows his ambivalent approach (and that's being generous) to anti-semtism, and it was his obsession with Israel and matters Jewish that arguably led to his arrest when the police were searching for Natalie Brecht, on the run from social services with her children. Claiming to be related to a Libyan intelligence officer, Ms Brecht seemingly offered Gosling 'proof' of Mossad involvement in the 7/7 bombings (something TG had of course made his mind up about long ago...........)

Oddly it is not Gosling's anti-semitism that has got him into trouble this time, but his homophobia. 9/11 'truthers' have long regarded elements in the British Muslim community as their natural constituency, and back in April TG popped up in Muslim News, talking about his disgust at 'gay propaganda' in local schools. All this was done in the name of the Green Party, as Gosling was described as a 'Green candidate'. Cue the inevitable attack on the Greens, as a Party, in the current issue of Private Eye.

Green With Anger

The Green Party should have realised back in March 2007 the danger 9/11 'truth' activists posed to its credibility. Whilst Gosling was a far more low key figure in the organisation than hatstand anti-semite Justin Walker (who attended the 2007 conference in Swansea, with a small gaggle of truthers led by Ian Henshall and Lambeth Green Shane Collins) the ingrained anti-semitism of the British 9/11 truth movement means clear water needs to be put between it and any progressive political organisation. The Greens did not do that, and until they do, these stories will be repeated, again and again.

A Green Party investigation is now underway into Gosling's comments, which may well lead to disciplinary action. The Greens should ask themselves now if there are any other truth activists in their ranks, and if so - at what price to the Greens credibility?
