What a strange mindset dominates some of the elected officials of the London Borough of Camden.
Despite all the things they could do something about (insert here the major social problem of your choice) they instead wish to make Camden the first London borough with an enforced, borough wide speed limit of 20mph.
In a test of one hours driving, a BBC journalist on this evening's London Tonight was never once able to exceed 30mph, and indeed spent most of his time at the 20mph level, simply because of the volume of traffic. On this evidence then, there is not a problem. No one is speeding.
Lib Dem Cllr Chris Naylor advises anyone against a new limit to "look at Camden High Street some time". I have - and all I see is traffic. The speed limit is pretty much irrelvant. The Lib Dems are facing a deserved electoral wipe out at the next election. Lets hope they are not able to force too many of their more cranky ideas on Camden's residents - and London's motorists - before they do go.

Curious that the Lib Dems in Norwich are also obsessed with lowering the speed limit for some roads.

Hahaha still quicker to get round London by bike at an average of 12 milesph. Stupid but they're in government. Numpties.

Bristol Lib Dems are obsessed with this too:

While the effect on traffic speeds is limited, the effect on a certain type of urban liberal voter is huge!
